Alternatives - West Dallas video store with tons of gay adult video rentals and catchy dance music to listen to while you shop. Open 24 hours, seven days a week. Located at 1720 West Mockingbird Lane, a few blocks east of I-35, on the back side of the New Fine Arts. Minimum age for entry: 18.
Hot guy
BJ's NXS - Bar with hot male dancers after 9 p.m. At 3215 N. Fitzhugh Avenue (3 blocks west of Central Expy); no cover charge. Open Monday-Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Minimum age for entry: 21. Music is really loud, with lots of hip-hop. Picked as Best Male Entertainment Destination and Best Theme Night in 2014 by the Dallas Voice. Smoking prohibited inside, but allowed on outside patio.

Dallas Voice - The Voice offers gay-related news stories covering the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, as well as state and national gay issues. Free at gay-themed stores, gay-friendly businesses, and selected bookstores. Website updated daily.

J.R.'s Bar & Grill - Popular bar with balcony that's open-air when it's nice outside and enclosed when it's not. Also has shows or special events some nights. At 3923 Cedar Springs Road; no cover charge. Open Monday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Sunday from noon to 2 a.m. Minimum age for entry: 21. Smoking prohibited inside, but allowed on outside patio.
Boot and cowboy hat
The Round-Up Saloon - Tho' I'm not a big Country & Western fan, this is a great place to hang out and relax or two-step if you know how, although it can be very crowded. Less attitude here. Karaoke on Sunday through Friday nights; dance lessons on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. No cover; mostly late 20s & up. Drinks are weak and pricy. At 3912 Cedar Springs Road. Open Monday-Friday from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m.; Saturday-Sunday from noon to 2 a.m. Minimum age for entry: 21. Picked as Best Gay Club and Friendliest Staff in 2017 by the Dallas Voice and Best Gay Bar in 2016 by Dallas Observer readers. Smoking prohibited inside, but allowed on outside patio.

Station 4 (S4) - Formerly the Village Station, it now has additional space for dancing, drag shows, and more! Cover charge, except no cover for those 18+ on: Thursday (9-10 p.m.), 21+ on Friday (9-11 p.m.), and 21+ on Sunday (9-11 p.m.). Open Thursday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.; Friday-Sunday from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. (Alcohol service available until 2 a.m.) Located at 3911 Cedar Springs Road. Minimum age for entry: 18, except 21 on Saturday. Station 4 was picked as Bottoms Central in 2015 by the Dallas Voice and Best Dance Club in 2016 by Dallas Observer readers. Smoking prohibited inside, but allowed on outside patio.

Sue Ellen's - Lesbian club with dance floor, indoor lounge for live music, and upstairs/downstairs outside patio area for chatting. Cover charge, except Friday (9:30-10 p.m.), Saturday (9:30-10 p.m.) and Sunday (all night). At 3014 Throckmorton Street (one block off Cedar Springs Road). Open Monday-Sunday from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. (Alcohol service available until 2 a.m.) Minimum age for entry: 21, except 18 on Tuesday and Friday. Picked as Best Lesbian Club in 2017 by the Dallas Voice and as Best Gay Bar in 2016 by the Dallas Observer. Smoking prohibited inside, but allowed on outside patios.

Tapelenders - Video rental store with wide selection of gay-themed dramas and comedies, plus adult films, too, and general Hollywood releases. Also has selection of gifts. Open 9 a.m.-midnight, 7 days a week. Located at 3926 Cedar Springs Road.

The Tin Room - Tons of male dancers here, with great music, and an area for "private shows". At 2514 Hudnall Street (near Maple Avenue); no cover charge. Open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Sunday from noon to 2 a.m. Picked as Best Place to Get a Lap Dance in 2017 by the Dallas Voice. But, drinks are weak and pricy, and the Men's bathroom desperately needs cleaning. Minimum age for entry: 21. Smoking prohibited inside, but allowed on outside patio.

Turtle Creek Chorale - Terrific 200+ male gay chorale that performs at Dallas City Performance Hall and a variety of other venues around town. Breathtaking, clever, and touching performances. Buy tickets on the site, check out future performance dates and times, and hear music samples.
